In 2015, Uber teamed up with us to create a unique marketing campaign centered around the holiday spirit and giving back. The campaign featured our custom-made ugly Christmas sweaters as the star of their holiday promotion, targeting key U.S. markets where Uber sought to expand its visibility and connect with its social media-savvy audience. With a core demographic of 18-34-year-olds, Uber used this playful and festive idea to resonate with its riders while spreading joy during the holiday season.

Sweaters on the Go: A Festive Marketing Innovation

Uber’s Ugly Christmas Sweater Giveaway was more than a giveaway—it was a brilliantly orchestrated marketing strategy. The promotion allowed riders in select Southwest cities to receive a free ugly sweater by simply choosing the “Uber Sweater” option in the app. Upon pickup, drivers handed riders one of our unique, quirky holiday sweaters.

To amplify the campaign, Uber drivers donned ugly sweaters while working, creating a fun, festive experience for riders. Naturally, this led to countless riders sharing their sweaters and ride experiences on social media, generating widespread organic exposure. Additionally, Uber extended the campaign’s goodwill by donating a sweater to the Salvation Army for every one gifted, helping to keep people warm during the winter months.
